Hike in Santa Fe National Forest

Most every year for the past ten years my husband and I have spent a week or so in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We attend several productions of the Santa Fe Opera and hike and relax in the mountains that are just to the east and slightly north of Santa Fe. There is a ski area there. The lift used to run some hours in the summer but does not seem to any more. It is about 15 miles from Santa Fe. There is a trail that goes from Santa Fe up to the ski area. We sometimes hike for a little ways up or down the trail as there are several trailheads along the road where you can get on the trail. This year we found we could not hike very far as the altitude and our age are getting to us a little bit, so we hiked a little ways and took pictures. We had tramped downhill a little ways and now I am looking at the trail we are ready to go back up.

Since we were a bit tired going up we took advantage and took some pictures of the forest scenery. Here they are in thumbnail form for easy loading but if anyone wants to see a larger version, just click on the picture. It will open in a second window which you can close and be back here. ( Note: You are welcome to download any of my pictures but please download them to your computer first and do not hotlink to them.)
